What you'll do in college

International business takes the standard business core—accounting, finance, marketing, management—and adds trade policy, cross-border finance, global supply chains, and comparative business culture. Most programs require foreign language coursework and a semester (or a full year) abroad.

Expect case competitions, group projects with students in other time zones, and at least one class where the entire grade hinges on understanding a country you had never thought about before.

What you'll do after college

Grads land in global operations, supply chain, trade compliance, export finance, consulting, market entry strategy, and the international arms of banks and consumer brands. Entry roles look a lot like general business roles—analyst, coordinator, associate—but with a regional or cross-border mandate.

Pay tracks closely with the underlying function (finance pays more than logistics) rather than the "international" label. Language fluency and a genuine willingness to relocate are what separate the grads who actually work abroad from the ones who read about it.
