What you'll do in college

These majors prepare students to manage the data, technology, and processes that keep modern organizations running. Coursework includes statistics, database management, business analytics, supply chain, operations research, programming (often Python, R, and SQL), and project management.

Many programs are housed in business schools and combine quantitative modeling with business strategy. Capstone projects often involve working with a real company on a process, logistics, or data problem.

What you'll do after college

Grads become business analysts, data analysts, supply chain managers, operations research analysts, IT consultants, and project managers at companies in retail, logistics, healthcare, finance, and tech. The work mixes data analysis, optimization, system design, and a lot of cross-team coordination—translating between business managers and engineers.

Pay is solid and demand is steady because every large organization needs people who can do this. Many roles are strong entry points into management or product roles.
